Grease around a rooftop fan needs to be photographed and assessed. We quote cleanup and containment separately from any roofing work, and document the roof condition we observe.

The report is written to be forwarded. Fan, duct, access panel and rooftop conditions are all documented, deficiencies come with a priority, and protecting the roof and the equipment during service is part of the standard scope rather than an extra.
What rooftop grease tells us
The report records grease around the fan curb and the condition of the containment box. If roof damage is suspected, a roofer needs to assess the membrane and quote any repair.
Rooftop grease is a reason to check the fan, containment and accessible duct. We recommend a cleaning interval from the observed system condition and cooking load, rather than from a roof stain alone.
Containment boxes and what they need
A containment box catches what leaves the fan and holds an absorbent pad. It works while somebody empties it. A full box overflows in exactly the spot it was installed to protect.
If you have one, emptying and cleaning it is part of the visit and it gets photographed full and empty. If you do not have one, we quote it as its own line rather than folding it into a cleaning price.

Questions we get
Is roof grease my problem or the landlord's?
Check your lease and confirm responsibility with the property manager. Our dated photographs document the condition observed; they do not determine ownership or who pays for repairs.
Do you do roof repairs?
No. We clean grease off the membrane and the fan curb, we service or quote containment, and we photograph the roof condition we find. Roofing work goes to a roofer.
How often does a containment box need emptying?
It depends on the observed grease load and containment condition. We check and photograph it during roof service, and the report says whether it is filling faster than the schedule allows.
Can you clean the roof without cleaning the hood?
Yes. Roof and fan work can be quoted on its own. The written scope identifies what is included and what needs a separate roofing assessment.
Is the roof inspection really free?
Yes. We go up, photograph the fan, the curb, the containment and the membrane around it, and send you the pictures. There is no site-visit fee and no obligation, whether or not anything gets booked.
